| Construction/Manufacturing of Wood Flooring
Wood flooring materials are produced into different forms. These forms are common to most wood flooring categories and constitute the majority of installation.
Strip flooring materials are boards that are generally tongue and grooved, end matched and installed in parallel rows. The lengths and thickness vary, but they will be 1 ½”, 2” “and 2 ¼” in width.
Plank flooring is traditionally larger than strip flooring. They are generally ¾ inch thick and range from 3” to 8” in width. They too are generally tongue and grooved, end matched and installed in parallel rows.
Parquet flooring is a patterned floor that has flooring material inlaid in geometrical designs. A parquet floor tile is a tile that is composed of “slats” mechanically fastened together (banding) or other means.
Mosaic parquet is a flooring made up of small solid pieces of wood “slats” assembled in units that may consist of individual squares, units with slats arranged in single or double herringbone design or unit or squares border with slats of the same contrasting species.
Parquet flooring may or may not possess tongue and groove characteristics. They are also are not regular in dimension.
